Concentrates on issues of modernism and post-modernism in Western art from 1800 to the present, looking closely at how we observe, interpret and write about art in its historical, cultural and political context as well as at themes such as patronage, public art, art censorship and the art market and its institutions. Required of all art majors. Prerequisites: Successful completion of ART 2020; junior standing; successful completion of WA and WB.
